‘Maitland Bi-Centenary 1970 Procession Award’ ribbon.

In 1970 Maitland held a street procession to mark 200 years since the arrival of James Cook in Australia. The Maitland Hospital Collection has this ribbon which, presumably, was awarded for the hospital float (see below) created for the procession.

These two ribbons and the photograph of the 1970 hospital float are among a small number of items in the Maitland Hospital Collection that mark ways in which Maitland Hospital staff have participated in community activities organised to celebrate or commemorate significant national, state and local events.

There are also trophies, shields and certificates for events held within the hospital and for recognition of contributions by the hospital and its staff to a variety of community and other causes.
