Occupational therapy 2021.

In 2021 Occupational therapy was accommodated in the elegant 1905 hospital building. Staff enjoyed their access to the verandah of the building: a space for lunch, a space for gathering, a space for fresh air. Their work spaces were made up of a lot of little rooms. The staff looked forward to having one big room in the new hospital.

Staff

Occupational therapist Priya Aranha specifically requested Catharine Neilson to photograph her and her colleagues on their verandah as a memento of their time at the old hospital site.

Rooms and equipment

As with other departments in the old Maitland Hospital, Occupational Therapy adapted rooms and spaces previously used for other services. Catharine Neilson’s photographs capture the colourful and bright equipment, railings, stored chairs, decorative details, and steps and other aids introduced to make facilities more accessible.
