Graduate nurses - names please!
From 1902 until the transfer of nurse training to the tertiary education sector in 1985, the Maitland Hospital was recognised as a training institution for nurses.
In her 1996 book The Maitland Hospital: The Way We Were, Esme Meehan published a chronological list of the names of graduates during this period. She also included photographs and profiles submitted by former and current nurses.
The Maitland Hospital Collection includes a number of the photographs in Meehan’s book along with other photographs of groups of graduate nurses.
Often the nurses in the photographs are not named.
With thanks to Tom Healy, Maree Harris, Kevin Howard and Evelyn Malpossa for identifying some of the people.
