A new timeline.

Timeline in the new Maitland Hospital, January 2022.

Building on the tradition of creating and displaying timelines of the hospital, a new timeline was created for the new Maitland Hospital.

Printed on vinyl and fixed to the wall in the main corridor of the new hospital, the timeline tracks the growth of the hospital through images, dates and captions about key buildings. It was designed by Jaimie Pritchard with a background created from Saretta Fielding’s arbour artwork. The content was researched and written by Collected Memory consultants Joe Eisenberg and Janis Wilton.

Snapshots of the introductory text, photographs and captions on the timeline.

Embedded in the timeline are five vitrines. The vitrines are for changing displays about the hospital. The concept is that, through the vitrines and through works elsewhere in the hospital, there will be changing stories and displays about people, events, and objects.

For the opening of the new hospital in January 2022, five themes were selected for the vitrines. The displays were installed by Rob Cleworth.
